You just need to sit beside the window, really. Most of our food shots suffer from poor lighting or orange-y ambient light, hardly something we can exert control over. Unless you vehemently demand a window seat every single time you step into a food joint, in which case your level of reasoning rivals that of N.Korea. The very clean, sharp and pristine shots you see in most menus are a result of good lighting derived from a flash and reflectors.
Nothing fancy over here; I had class and as usual I made the trip to NP to avoid the horde at SIM. The Korean(no link with the first paragraph) stall had a menu change, and basically this is what I had ordered. The extra stops for ISO were much welcomed as it allows for finer tuning.
