running with the Garmin

The Garmin Forerunner 10 is a budget GPS watch. This suits me well; I am a minimalist and am concerned with just a few parameters. This looks nice enough for casual wear (other Garmin variants look pretty gaudy), so that is a plus as well. It is not as thin as I would like it to be, but it’s pretty good considering the GPS unit in the innards.

I took the watch out for my Sunday long run just to see if it actually works. Getting a signal took a couple of minutes, and I was off. It lives up to it’s waterproofing (50m); I can attest to that since i took it to a thunderstorm for a spin. I should have turned back when it started pouring but I didn’t. Nonetheless, no blips in the GPS signal throughout, so I’m pretty happy.
